Children at School in Timbwani

Glyn & Jane Davies married in 1997 and went to Mombasa on honeymoon. Seeing the plight of children in Mombasa, the lack of food and education and general hunger for the Word of God, their hearts remained in Mombasa when they went home. Words that stuck in our minds were “Can your Jesus feed me?”

They registered Education for Life as a UK Charity during 1999 and in February 2000, went to live in Mombasa to show Jesus’ love in practical ways and to care for children who had been forgotten by society. They are committed to demonstrating a different kind of lifestyle within the whole community, in love with God and unity with each other.

They now feed around 750 children each week day, as part of the feeding program. Many of those children attend the thriving Nursery & Primary School and the High School. Children are sponsored through their education by people from across the world. Alongside the school, Tumaini also accommodates a children’s home, homing 27 children within a loving environment.

Education for Life are currently beginning a new branch of their work up in Taita Hills, where they are ‘cow sharing’ with local farmers in order to produce milk.
